A foster parent is a person with enough love in her/his heart to provide a safe, loving, warm environment for a child or children who has been abused and/or neglected, abandoned, or has suffered from the loss of family, whether temporarily or permanently.

A certified foster parent is a person with enough love in his/her heart to attend all necessary training, accommodate their home to foster children, share their love with children they have never before met, act as advocate for those children, help natural parents learn how to rear their children if reunification is the goal, work with the assigned staff (Alpha Treatment Centers social worker and foster home coordinator) toward the common goal of helping each child learn personal responsibility and that s/he can impact their environment positively, work with the court system to each child’s benefit, and much, much more.

In other words, a certified foster parent is someone willing to do what it takes to make a difference in the lives of children separated for whatever reason from their birth parents.

What is A Fos-Adopt Parent?

A Fos-Adopt parent is a person who has gone through the state mandated foster parent and adoptive parent training and is eligible to adopt any foster child that becomes eligible for adoptions while in the foster care system. All necessary training and certification is already complete, so when the parent is given the option to adopt any children, the process is a simple, streamlined event. Alpha Treatment Centers has seen a great number of our foster children get adopted by our foster parents and we strongly encourage certified foster parents to consider adoption when they feel that the needs of a foster child in their home who’s parents have lost parental rights will be best served through adoption. The choice is theirs. Alpha Treatment Centers personnel will merely assist the process if the certified foster parents make that decision.
